Your business may rely on industrial batteries for a number of purposes. However, if you have only recently started a company that uses these devices, you may not realize the appropriate steps needed to properly store them. As a result, you may make mistakes that can shorten the lifespan of these devices. By following these two tips, you can help make sure that your business is getting the most from its investment in batteries.

Create A Battery Storage Room

If batteries are stored in conditions such as high humidity or excessively hot or cold temperatures, they can start to degrade. To prevent this type of damage from occurring to your batteries, you should make it a point to create a special room for storing them.

When choosing a room to designate as a battery storage area, you should select a room that is well-ventilated, out of direct sunlight and that has stable temperatures. Additionally, you should consider installing a dehumidifier to help prevent condensation from forming on the batteries and corroding them. While it may seem like taking these steps to store industrial batteries is inconvenient, it is essential for ensuring your enterprise's batteries are in good condition when they are needed.

Regularly Inspect And Test The Batteries

In addition to properly storing the batteries, you should also make it a point to create a testing schedule. During these inspections, you will need to test the voltage of the batteries to ensure they are still properly charged. This can be done by using a battery testing kit. You will need to purchase a kit that is designed for use on your specific batteries, and these can usually be purchased from most industrial battery dealers like RME-Energy.

Also, you will need to visually inspect the batteries for any signs of dirt, dust or corrosion accumulation on the contact points. If you notice the contact points becoming dirty, you should use a microfiber cloth to gently remove the materials from the battery. Never wet the cloth when doing this work or you may experience a shock.

Ensuring that your business is properly storing its batteries will require you to take protective steps. Failing to take these steps can cause your batteries to quickly lose their charge, which can render them useless.  Having an appreciation for the benefits of creating a specific battery storage room as well as testing and inspecting the batteries will help your company to get good value from its expenditures on batteries.
